Before You Book a Session Day

A two-minute check. Two things worth knowing before you pick a date: what rules a session out, and what you're agreeing to do beforehand. Most people are fine on both — but a couple of the holds need weeks of lead time, and nobody likes finding that out after a deposit.

Any medication change happens through your prescriber — never on your own. Some of these are dangerous to stop abruptly. We are not your prescriber, and we will never ask you to stop a medication to qualify for a session.

Don't book if any of these apply

  • You're under 21
  • Schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or another psychotic disorder
  • Bipolar I, or any manic or psychotic episode you've ever had — including one triggered by a substance or medication
  • You're in psychosis or mania right now
  • You take lithium
  • You take an MAOI — Nardil, Parnate, Marplan, Emsam, Azilect, or a botanical one (Syrian rue, ayahuasca)
  • You're pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You're actively suicidal with a plan, or had a recent attempt
  • Unstable heart disease — recent heart attack or stroke, unstable angina, significant arrhythmia, uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • An uncontrolled seizure disorder

A parent or sibling with schizophrenia or bipolar I isn't an automatic no — but it's a real conversation, so mention it early.

You'll need to be able to hold these

If any line here is a no for you, say so before you book rather than after.

GLP-1 medicationsOzempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus, Mounjaro, Zepbound, Trulicity, Victoza, Saxenda — including compounded versions. They slow digestion, which turns a normal wave of nausea into vomiting on a fasted session day.

Your SSRI or SNRI is not on this list. We don't require you to taper an antidepressant — here's why.

You may need a note from your doctor

If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, a seizure history, a prior stroke, diabetes, or significant liver or kidney disease, we need a short note from your treating clinician saying they have no objection. It doesn't need to endorse psilocybin — only to say your body can handle several hours of elevated heart rate with limited food. These take a few weeks to get, so start early.

What the day itself takes

  • Up to seven hours on site — clear the whole day
  • A light breakfast, then nothing before the medicine
  • You can't drive afterward, so a named person takes you home
  • A preparation session first, and integration on the calendar before you come in

Not sure where you land? Ask before you book — it takes one short conversation, and "not right now" is a perfectly good answer.
