Tech Assisted CBT for Opioid Abuse
A recent, small study examined the use of a text messaging system to monitor patients being treated for opioid abuse. The system is intended to be used as an adjunct to cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT).
The system sends automatic text messages to check in with the patient, to assess if they are in danger of relapsing. If yes, they would presumably be contacted by their treatment provider. If effective, this automatic system would allow providers to handle many patients by better focusing resources where they are needed.
